Mercurius Pragmaticus Redivivus

Mercurius Pragmaticus Redivivus

Sorry, but there aren't any articles in the Patriotic Music category yet.

Motto

“I ceased in the year 1764 to believe that one can convince one’s opponents with arguments printed in books. It is not to do that, therefore, that I have taken up my pen, but merely so as to annoy them, and to bestow strength and courage on those on our own side, and to make it known to the others that they have not convinced us.”

~~ Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, The Waste Books, Notebook E, 1775-76

This Journal

This is a Reactionary and Ultra-Tory Journal. It defends Order and Hierarchy, The Monarchy, and The Permanent Things against the onslaught of Radicalism, Freemasonic Jacobinism, Egalitarianism, Women Rights Women, Universal Suffrage, Libertinism, and Nihilism.

It also opposes Whiggery and the "Chirping Sectaries" of Manchestarian Liberalism whom occasionally claim to be "Conservative".

"Political equality is against nature. Social equality is against nature. Economic equality is against nature. The idea of equality is subversive of order"

— Edmund Burke

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

~~Rudyard Kipling. Gods of Copybook Headings.
