I believe that I have discovered a perfect new motto at Mangan’s Miscellany.
From Georg Christoph Lichtenberg in The Waste Books (Notebook E, 1775-76):

I ceased in the year 1764 to believe that one can convince one’s opponents with arguments printed in books. It is not to do that, therefore, that I have taken up my pen, but merely so as to annoy them, and to bestow strength and courage on those on our own side, and to make it known to the others that they have not convinced us.
Ah, drool.
Indeed.
So little has changed since 1764.
Well, okay, the whole hair thing has progressed a tad.
Caz,
Little has changed in human nature since 1764.
As Lichtenberg argued his written arguments do little to convince his opponents; but encourage those who share his convictions, and irritate those who disagree and show them that some will resist their proposals.
P.S. Drool?
Not much has changed since then ey.
I too, gave up a while ago, now it’s just for our side.
